Elastic Band & Hebden Bridge Junior Brass Band

The Elastic Band is a group of up to twenty 12-15 year old musicians - singers, percussionists, drummers, guitarists, bass guitarists and keyboard players - who write and perform their own songs.  This is the band's first performance away from school... don't miss it!

 

Following on from their recent appearance on the BBC's One Show and a double page spread in the Guardian, the Hebden Bridge Junior Band will be premiering specially arranged Ska classics at The July Project

A varied evening of music, showcasing solos and small group performances from students of Calderdale Music Service, in a cabaret-style setting with supper provided.

 

National Youth Music Theatre Workshop

The National Youth Music Theatre is delighted to bring its TASTER workshop for young people to The July Project.  The NYMT is the UK's best and longest running musical training environment for young people outside of drama school.  The workshop is aimed at 11-19 year old performers wishing to stretch and develop their skills in singing, dancing and acting Musical Theatre.  It also introduces them to the NYMT with a view to working with the company in the future.  Working in groups, participants will take part in skill-specific workshops in singing, dancing and acting, led by experienced professional practitioners.

Tony Castro, currently Head of the new Musical Theatre foundation degree course at Trinity College of Music, has extensive experience of working in both the professional West End Musical Theatre scene and auditioning young people for drama/musical theatre schools.  This masterclass will involve Tony coaching a select group of singers in their audition technique, using songs they provide, in front of an audience.  Don't miss this opportunity to work with a West End Musical Director.

A chance for budding young musicians and singers/songwriters to develop their skills and have an opportunity to write a song, make a video and sing with other young people on the course.

Words on the Street

A street festival of singing by community and school choirs from the local area and beyond. Come and enjoy a day of song!  Halifax and The July Project have worked with Hebden Bridge Arts Festival to offer school choirs a touch of professional tuition through workshops  Come and see them perform alongside established community choirs including Hebden Bridge’s very own Calder Valley Voices. 

 

Applause Theatre School / Queensbury Theatre Group

Students from Queensbury Theatre Group have chosen to perform extracts from Joseph and Oliver after seeing Any Dream Will Do and I'd Do Anything on television.  Members of the Applause Theatre School will perform extracts from Guys and Dolls.
