Two Calderdale secondary
schools have been working with physical theatre actors and Panda
Media to create and film a production that will be
performed at Square Chapel on 9 July. The film produced will be
screened at Square Chapel after the festival. Students were taught
drama and filming techniques in professional workshops and were
encouraged to try out their new found skills in between sessions.
Feel the Force!
Eureka! are
visiting twenty schools during The July Project with the ‘Feel the
Force!’ show. The show is presented by Eureka!’s resident science
duo Fizz and Flash and explores different types of forces. Space
rockets, catapults and buckets of water are all included in the
exciting interactive show.

Junior Jam
The July Project
has worked with Junior Jam to visit secondary schools in Calderdale with
music technology, street dance and dj workshops.
Poetry Workshops
Potty Poets,
Chris White and Gez Walsh, will be visiting the Visitor Centre and
Art Gallery in the Piece Hall and libraries across Calderdale to
enthuse junior school children. Local poet, Craig Bradley,
'that poetry bloke' will be inspiring older children with his
innovative and lively poetry workshops. Invited groups of
students from secondary schools will be motivated to write after
listening to Craig's funny, silly, sad and unusual poems, including
the memorable 'I like to rhyme it, rhyme it' and '56 ways
to look at a leek'.
Iron Man Project
Six
schools from Mytholmroyd are making parts of an iron man from junk.
The finished sculpture will be larger than human size and will be
displayed at the Ted Hughes festival in October 2008.
Iron Giants
All
Calderdale schools have been invited to take part in an iron giant
making competitions. The entries will be displayed at Eureka!
on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July.
