Part of National School Sports Week, a fun sports session based on athletics for young people with special educational needs and disabilities in mainstream primary and secondary schools.  Contact your school for more information.

Try your hand at one of Britain's most exciting and fastest growing sports.  No experience necessary.  Sessions will be split into age groups: 5-13 & 14-19.  Casual sports wear is advised.

Part of the Midnight League programme of activities. An opportunity to improve your skills and have fun while playing 5-1-side football.

Urban Adventures!

 

 

The Boiler House, Paris Gates

Wednesday 1 & Wednesday 8 July, 6pm - 7pm

Tickets: £3 - must be pre-booked

 

Choose from one of the following activities:

 

Artificial Caving – squeeze through 500ft of artificial cave, navigate past Pete's Peril, along the Cornish Crawl and there might be a few surprises along the way.

Street Surfing – This new boarding craze is an exciting combination of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding.

Ropes Course – test your balancing skills on the Postman's Walk, Tension Traverse and Swinging Tyres,

or give the Heebie Jeebies a go.

 

Suitable for age 8 – 19.  All safety equipment is included.

Please wear comfortable clothing and trainers, no jeans.

 

 


Extreme Mountain Biking

 

Mixenden Adventure Centre

Thursday 2, Tuesday 7 & Thursday 9 July, 7pm

Tickets: £2 - must be pre-booked

 

Improve your mountain biking skills as our qualified instructors put you through your paces.  Initially your riding style will be assessed as you are taught the correct methods for controlling your bike effectively before moving on to tackle the exciting obstacles including water features, steep embankments and logs – pull some wheelies and see how high you can jump!

 

The stunning finale to your mountain biking finale may be putting into all into practice on the Calderdale hills and countryside. 

Suitable for age 9 –19.  Own bikes and helmets can be used but equipment is also available to borrow, please mention when booking if you would like to borrow equipment.

 

For maximum progress you should book on to all three sessions.  Meet at 7.00pm for 7.30pm start, to finish at 9.30pm.

Family Athletics

 

Spring Hall Athletics Track

A fun athletics event for disabled young people and their families.  Brothers, sisters mums and dads are all welcome to join together as a family and take part!

Adventurous Activity Weekend

 

Mixenden Activity Centre

Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 July, 10am - 3.30pm

Tickets: £5 - must be pre-booked

 

Get adventurous with activities including Archery, Canoeing, Climbing and Mountain Biking.  Choose two and do one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

 

Packed lunch required.  Must be a confident swimmer (50m) to attend. Bring a complete change of clothing, towel, old trainers and swimming kit for each water activity.  For climbing loose clothing and old trainers should be worn.

 

Suitable for ages 11 – 19.


Raft Building

 

Sowerby Bridge Swimming Pool

Sunday 5 & Sunday 12 July, 2pm - 3pm

Tickets: £FREE - must be pre-booked

 

Try your hand at the fun challenge of building a raft.  Will it float?  Will it sink?

The session is followed by a fun swim. 

Suitable for ages 8 – 14.  Places are limited so pre-booking is essential.
